About the book

Considered by many the Italian Robin Hood, bandit Carmine Crocco was the main protagonist of the Great Brigandage of 1861- 1865. He led an army of more than one thousand brigands and collaborated with the champions of the Bourbonist reaction in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.

The book retraces the life of Crocco through the major events of that period, from the Risorgimento movement in Lucania to the fierce war against brigands under the command of Italian General Emilio Pallavicini.
